Bill Brine founds Sport Helmets (soon to be known as Cascade Sports) with a mission to revolutionize head protection in sport. A company driven by innovative product development, highly efficient production and world-class customer service, and a 100% Made in North America guarantee, Cascade Sports designs and releases its first sport helmet for lacrosse.

Cascade Sports releases the Sport Helmet Ultralite, which utilized the first injection molded shell in a lacrosse helmet allowing for multiple colors, lighter weight and better protection.

Cascade Sports develops and introduces the first-ever expanded Polypropylene liner (EPP) into its helmets. EPP very soon became the industry standard for nearly all athletic helmets.

The brand expands outside of lacrosse in 1995, developing and marketing its first swift water helmet, The Cascade. A natural evolution for the brand, Cascade Sports utilizes the technology it created for lacrosse and adapts it to best meet the needs of swift water rafters and kayakers. A prestigious relationship with the Coast Guard soon follows as Cascade becomes specified by the U.S. Coast Guard for water rescue.

The brand develops and launches the CPRO lacrosse helmet, the first helmet geared toward the professional athlete in conjunction with the launch of Major League Lacrosse as helmets become an official part of the athlete “uniform.”

Cascade Sports launches the eyewear category for women’s lacrosse with the development and release of the Iris Women’s Eyemask, the first-ever wire eyemask for women and a true evolution from the under-performing and sometimes dangerous goggles women had previously worn in competition. With the Iris, Cascade Sports offers an effective, safe solution which allows the sport’s governing body to adopt and mandate eye protection.

In what was to become the most significant year in brand history, Cascade Sports develops its revolutionary Seven Technology, a liner system utilizing a ground-breaking impact attenuation system to more effectively manage energy transfer from direct impact. On impact, Seven Technology compresses to laterally displace energy and within seconds, it completely resets to be ready for the next impact. The brand soon launches the technologically advanced Pro7 lacrosse helmet designed for the world’s elite players.

Cascade Sports quickly recognizes the significance of its Seven Technology and its relevance to other multiple impact sports. The brand enters the hockey market with the CHX hockey helmet, featuring Seven Technology

Hockey icon Mark Messier joins forces with Cascade Sports, the leaders in head protection, to launch The Messier Project, an initiative designed to address head injuries and concussion through a public awareness campaign, and innovative product development.

The M11, the first product offering born out of The Messier Project, is also launched. Envisioned by Mark Messier and engineered by the experts at Cascade Sports, the M11 brings together the brand’s revolutionary Seven Technology and high performance design to usher in a new era of head protection for the sport of hockey. Seven Technology (the liner within the M11) is proven to perform better than EPP (the foam liner in standard hockey helmets) on successive impacts. The M11 also features a newly redesigned ProFit System

The culture of innovation at Cascade Sports continues as the brand works to further evolve head protection with a design philosophy focusing on multiple impact technology, flexibility for impact absorption, improved fit, and the importance of real world testing.
